What is built and what is in progress
The capabilities below are built on the platform substrate today. Ones marked “in progress” are being built on foundations that are already shipped. Money features (store checkout, fundraising payment settlement) are named honest-off.
Free engraved editions (freeschoolmusic)
Every score is engraved from a verified public-domain source on our own infrastructure — not a copy of any copyrighted edition. Each engraving is clean for educational use: printable and copyable. The catalog grows as editions are completed and verified. Individual titles and practice parts are listed at freeschoolmusic.com with their honest availability. Editions approach live; library grows incrementally
Event and competition scheduling
Band competitions, concerts, marching events, and rehearsal blocks are scheduled on the shared schedule.software slot engine — the same canonical slot, booking, and availability primitive that already runs eight K-12 booking surfaces. A band director can put a regional competition on the calendar, block rehearsal windows leading up to it, and manage the event schedule without a separate scheduling tool. The scheduling core is built. Shipped
Band photo day — roster-bound galleries and consent-gated store
The picture-day substrate that backs the full platform is available for band photo day. Ensemble portraits and action shots are tied to the roster record; a student’s photo is visible in the gallery only when consent on file allows. The consent gate is fail-closed: an absent consent record is treated as no consent. Band banners and group composites are generated from the same roster-bound pipeline that feeds the yearbook and the school directory. Substrate shipped
Band-music merch and banner designs
The band-music design set is in the merch catalog: banner layouts, apparel graphics, and program designs sized for band use. The designs committed at 524d5590 are available in the catalog for print-on-demand orders through the store. A band director or booster coordinator can select a design, apply the school and program name, and place an order through the store. Designs in catalog
Uniform and instrument records (roster/records substrate)
The roster and records substrate that backs the full platform includes the fields required to track which student has which uniform or instrument: the assignment record, the condition note, the checkout and return dates, and the parent-acknowledgment flag. That substrate is built. The dedicated band-program inventory surface — the director-facing view for managing the full uniform and instrument set, running availability checks, and generating condition reports — is in progress on this foundation. Substrate built; dedicated inventory UI in progress
Booster fundraising cross-link
The booster and fundraising rails on the platform are designed to route proceeds directly to the school’s payment to the platform — so a band booster organization can run a fundraiser and apply the result to the program’s account balance. The fundraiser architecture is built. The end-to-end money flow — the store checkout and the payment settlement — is early access with money honest-off. The cross-link to schoolbooster.network is the current entry point for booster programs. Early access; money honest-off
What is built and what is honest-off
The engraved-editions approach — engraved from verified public-domain sources, on our own infrastructure, not a copy of any copyrighted edition — is live at freeschoolmusic.com; the catalog grows as editions are completed and verified against their public-domain sources. The shared schedule.software scheduling core is built; event and competition scheduling for band programs uses it today. The band photo day substrate — roster-bound galleries, consent-gated store, and group composites — is built on the platform’s picture-day pipeline. The band-music merch and banner designs are in the catalog (committed at 524d5590). The uniform and instrument assignment records substrate is built; the dedicated inventory surface is in progress. Booster fundraising architecture is built; the end-to-end money flow (store, checkout, settlement) is early access with money honest-off. The band-program command center, the travel-scheduling surface, and practice-parts expansion are in progress or planned. Guardian dispatch is built but honest-off pending provider provisioning. We name all of this plainly.
Marching Band Software is the band-vertical home on the K-12 platform from Stanley Studios. Distinct from dance.software and from the broad instructor tool.
